Problems That Can Occur With Your Cut Roses
A problem you might encounter during the first few days is bent neck or flower wilt. This is where the flower bud bends over and the stem underneath the flower becomes soft. This indicates that the flower is not absorbing water.
- As soon as you see this, cut 1/2" to 1" off the bottom of the stem. Make your cut at a 45o angle while the stem is under water.
- Then submerge the whole stem and flower in 100oF water for 20 minutes to 2 hours (usually 20 minutes is sufficient).
- If the whole arrangement wilts, apply the above practice to all the stems.
