In addition to flowers from your garden, wildflowers like wild asters and goldenrod from fields near your home will add bright colors to your fall bouquets. Look for dried seed heads of milkweed and teasel, too! You can spray paint these different colors like silver, gold, orange, or even black. Repetitions of similar colors, like different shades of orange and green, will create a stunning effect in your displays. Bundle ornamental grasses together and cut sunflower heads to make great additions to fall displays and arrangements.

Use different sizes, shapes, and colors of pumpkins and gourds in your arrangements. There is an incredible diversity of pumpkins, gourds, and even squash to choose from. Visit our friends the Lohrs at their farm in Broadway, Virginia and pick out some fun shapes and different sizes!
One note of caution for indoor arrangements using pumpkins and gourds: Be sure to protect your floors and tables with plastic before you start - just in case!!

We have found that pine needles make a great foundation for fall displays. They provide an airy cushion for large squash and pumpkins and add a deep, rich brown color to your arrangement. Pine needles last a long time and can be saved and reused from year to year.
